Artist's Statement
I am inspired by the natural world and its human inhabitants in many cultures. Whether it be exploring exotic lands, exquisite flora or benignly neglected places, my ever-ready camera is my sketchbook. In the studio, I find it exciting to alternate and mix mediums. My work, no doubt, brings a female perspective to it. Be it in collage, photography, encaustics, painting or printmaking, it is almost always layered, both in technique and meaning.
One of my passions is printmaking. I find the process of creating and developing images and working with them through a somewhat abstract lens, to be meditative and thought provoking. Using my etching press, I print layer over layer of ink, adding collage, chine colle or different mediums to create more complex and magical imagery. In recent years, I was delighted to have discovered solar printmaking which allows me to incorporate my photos without using toxic materials. I hope you’ll enjoy exploring my explorations.
